Installation: Stationary RV Setup
An Alternative to Shared RV Park Wi-Fi
Download/upload speeds improved from 3/1 Mbps on park Wi-Fi to 42/12 Mbps on cellular, with latency decreasing from 140 to 50 ms.
The Challenge
Shared RV park Wi-Fi was inconsistent, particularly when many guests were online.
The Installed Solution
Installed a dedicated outdoor directional LTE connection and configured a router for the customer’s devices inside the RV.
The Outcome
Download/upload speeds improved from 3/1 Mbps on park Wi-Fi to 42/12 Mbps on cellular, with latency decreasing from 140 to 50 ms.
Equipment Details
Outdoor MikroTik SXT LTE directional unit (SXTR) and MikroTik router. Proposed mounting arrangement: mast supported by suction mounts on a suitable RV surface, subject to the mounting system’s requirements and the agreed quote. Weather-resistant cabling and suitable power equipment supplied as specified.
Performance Notes
Compare both connections at similar busy-period times using the same device. Cellular speeds remain subject to network demand and service-plan limits.
Customer Feedback
The park Wi-Fi was unpredictable when it got busy. Having our own cellular connection gave us another way to stay online without depending on the shared service.
